Getting Started

What is CaseFill?

CaseFill is an AI-powered immigration case management platform built for attorneys. It streamlines document processing, form filling, and case tracking so you can focus on legal strategy instead of data entry.

How do I create my first case?

Click "New Case" from your dashboard, fill in your client's information and select the visa type. CaseFill will guide you through the rest — uploading documents, running AI analysis, and auto-filling the relevant USCIS forms.

Can I invite my clients to the platform?

Yes. Go to the Clients page, create a client record, and send them an invitation email. They will receive a secure link to create their account and can then view their case status and upload documents directly.

How do I upload and analyze documents?

Navigate to a case, click the Documents tab, then Upload Documents. Drag and drop files or browse your computer. CaseFill accepts PDFs, images (JPG, PNG), and Word documents. After upload, click 'Analyze' and our AI will extract key information like names, dates, and document numbers. This usually takes 10-30 seconds. You'll see extracted fields with confidence scores — higher scores mean the AI is more certain.

How does AI form auto-fill work?

Once you've uploaded and analyzed documents, go to the Forms tab in your case. Create a new form (e.g., I-485, I-130), then click 'Auto-Fill'. CaseFill reads your analyzed documents and fills form fields automatically. Each field shows a confidence score: green (high confidence), yellow (review recommended), or red (manual entry needed). You review and approve every field — the AI never submits anything without your approval.

How do I download a filing-ready PDF?

After reviewing and approving all form fields, click 'Download PDF' on the form page. CaseFill generates a USCIS-ready PDF using official form templates. The PDF includes all the data you reviewed. You can then print it, email it, or upload it to the USCIS online portal. Remember to sign where required — CaseFill fills the data but you handle signatures.

What do confidence scores mean?

When AI fills a form field, it shows a confidence score (percentage). 90-100% means the AI is very confident — the data was clearly extracted from your documents. 70-89% means it found something but recommends you double-check. Below 70% means the AI isn't sure and you should verify manually. Always review fields with low confidence scores before filing.

How do I track USCIS case status?

On any case, go to the Overview tab and find the USCIS Status card. Enter the USCIS receipt number (e.g., EAC1234567890) and select the current status. CaseFill tracks status updates and logs changes in the Activity tab. You can also set up deadline reminders to get email alerts before important dates.

Cases & Documents

What visa types are supported?

CaseFill supports 30+ USCIS forms including I-485, I-130, I-140, I-765, I-129, I-129F, I-131, I-539, I-693, I-864, I-864A, I-589, I-751, I-90, I-821, I-360, N-400, G-1145, and DS-160. New form types are added regularly.

How does document analysis work?

Upload documents such as passports, I-94s, or supporting evidence. CaseFill's AI extracts key data points automatically — names, dates, document numbers — and maps them to the correct form fields. Every extracted value includes a confidence score for attorney review.

Can I download filled PDF forms?

Yes. Once form fields are reviewed and confirmed, you can download filing-ready PDFs directly from the form detail page. The PDFs are filled using official USCIS form templates.

AI Features

What AI features are available?

CaseFill offers four core AI capabilities: document analysis (extract data from uploaded documents), form auto-fill (map extracted data to USCIS form fields), case insights (surface patterns and potential issues), and a research assistant (ask questions about immigration law and processing times).

Is my data safe with AI?

Yes. Sensitive PII is redacted before any data reaches AI providers. AI providers never train on your data — this is their default API policy, not a custom agreement. You can also opt out of AI entirely and use CaseFill as a traditional case management tool. See our Security page for full details.

What does the Research Assistant do?

The Research Assistant lets you ask natural-language questions about immigration law, USCIS processing times, policy updates, and case strategy. It searches curated immigration law sources and provides cited answers to help inform your legal analysis.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Your documents and case data are never used to train our AI models. When we process your documents, sensitive information (like SSNs and passport numbers) is redacted before being sent to our AI providers (Anthropic Claude and OpenAI). Both providers have explicit policies against training on API data. Your information stays private and encrypted.

What is the AI Research Assistant?

The Research Assistant helps you explore legal questions about your case. Click 'Research' on any case to ask questions like 'What are the eligibility requirements for I-485?' or 'What evidence supports an EB-3 petition?'. The AI searches immigration law resources and provides sourced answers. It's a research aid — always verify findings with official USCIS guidance.

Billing & Account

What's included in the free plan?

During our early access beta, the free plan includes unlimited access to all features — unlimited cases, AI requests, storage, and team members. Early users will receive grandfathered pricing when paid plans launch.

How do I upgrade to a paid plan?

CaseFill offers Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Visit the Billing page in your Settings to view plan details and upgrade. Current free-tier users receive preferential pricing when upgrading.

How do I change my password?

Go to Settings, then the Security tab. You can update your password and enable two-factor authentication (TOTP) from there.

Troubleshooting

Document upload failed — what should I do?

Check that your file is a PDF, image (JPG/PNG), or Word document under 50MB. Try a different browser or clear your cache. If the document is a scanned image, ensure it's clear and not blurry — our AI needs readable text to extract data.

AI auto-fill missed some fields — is that normal?

Yes. AI can only fill fields that match information in your uploaded documents. If a field requires data not in any document (like your firm's contact info or legal declarations), you'll need to fill it manually. Upload additional documents to improve coverage.
